I play a Fender Quad Reverb so every time I have to tube up, I have to buy a matched quad set of 6L6's. I bought Ruby tubes because everyone assured me they were just fine. I am just not that impressed with them.

I will never get rid of this amp because I still haven't played through an amp that makes my strat sound better clean. But the Ruby's really make me work to get them to overdrive and they are supposedly the same range as my the previous Grooves.

What tube should I put in next?

I've always enjoyed Svetlana's for overall power, and Electro-Harmonix tubes have a very interesting character to them that is unlike any other tube I've tried. I'm not sure if it's dirtier or warmer or...anything, really. But they have a character all their own.

I also have a quad reverb and I recently put electro-harmonix 6l6gc's in it and it sounds awesome!! I bought them from thetubestore.com and got them right away! They shipped them that day!! Get a matched quad!! I also replaced all the preamp tubes with electro-harmonix 12ax7s!! I have been very pleased!! The lows sound great and cleans are real nice!! I recommend these for sure!!
