The eternal question.

I've had this discussion a lot in the past, but cannot seem to get a good answer, probably because it all depends on your ears and what your tastes are.

For all of you out there who record vocals, what do you use to record the vocals, and how much do you really like it?

I have been using a Sure beta 58 and it sounds pretty good, but I know there are better units out there. The studio I recorded at once had amazing microphones, but we won't go into how much those cost....

I would definitely recommend a Shure SM7B. It is a large diaphragm dynamic mic and is very, very versatile. It works well with all types of vocals and cam be used on guitar amps, drums, and so much more. And at only about $350...you can't beat it!

If you are looking for something even cheaper that is good on vocals I would recommend the M-Audio Nova. At only $100, it's a great value for you price. It's a large diaphragm condenser mic with a fairly good response.

Hope this helps!
