Has anyone else here used a Yamaha MD8? It's from a few years ago - It's an 8 track digital recorder/mixer that stores information on minidisks.

I was doing some tracks with a friend who also had one, and being able to just mail him the disks was very convenient.

Even if I don't use the recording aspect of it again, it's a nice mixer to have.

Hey Micro, I've never used one personally, but I know someone who has and they really like it. The minidisks might be sort of antiquated though. I can't remember if that thing supports USB or not, but with the new bigger memory sticks, that would be another easy, efficient way to share tracks and mixes.

It doesn't have USB capabilities, unfortunately. It does have MIDI jacks, basically to respond to or send MIDI Time Code I guess.

I agree that the minidisks are left behind by the current technology, but considering what I paid for it I'll keep it and think of it as a mixer. It has sweepable EQ which is nice.
