I’m looking for information on microphones. I’ve been told by our local music store (I don’t buy things here, I go online or to the city) that Shure has good microphones. I see they are sold individually or in packages. Does anyone have a Shure microphone?
What kind of microphone do you have? My brother in law is looking into starting a DJ business. He was looking at some used equipment and asked my opinion. He is just starting out so I wouldn’t think he needed anything great, just good.

You can get a solid used Shure mic for around $30-50. That should easily be enough for a DJ. Check out some of the other posts on here, Rio. Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, and Audio-Technica have been getting some recommendations. AKG and Audio-Technica may be out of your price range though...

You my also want to compare the Shure mics with some offerings from Nady. They put out some decent equipment. He's a DJ, so he really just needs something clean. He's not singing into it or anything, but it's still a good idea to make a solid investment. Especially since you shouldn't run anything over $100 at most, even if he buys it new.

Thanks again ShackMan. I did review some other posts now and I think we will look around. He was just asking for my opinion (I'm an accountant not a musician - lol).
$100 is a great price to invest in your future.

Musicians need accountants too, haha. How many times have you heard about them going bankrupt, eh? Better yet, how many times have you seen a rich indie or jazz musician?

We thank you for your help. =)

Actually, if you had some tips, that'd be really cool to post on the site in the forums sometime if you have some spare time. I'm sure the greater musical community would be uber-appreciative. I mean - I know I would be.

I was talking to my best friend who is a DJ. She uses a Shure PG58 Dynamic Vocal Microphone - PG XLR. She actually got real lucky and found a used one on Ebay for around $15.00.
