I was talking to the guy that owned the karaoke machine and did all that at this lounge the other night and he makes decent money. If I wanted to get into doing this what do you guys think about the VocoPro Twister Karaoke system? It looks like a good solid system and I like all the features it has!

I have seen some when I traveled aboard (London) but compared to ones I have seen here in the states its like we get the knock off copy of them. I see some that sound pretty bad and while they might not be amazing, I did price checks and asked people where they got them. What does the normal price go for, for a good one?

Karaoke.com has a complete set of everything you need to start out as a KJ. The machine, mikes, speakers, cables and even a gator case with wheels to carry the machine. It will run you just over $2700. The set also comes with two CD's of some of the most popular songs to help you get started. Haven't seen the machine other than a picture but it might be worth checking out.

Wow, I expected that the whole system would be more toward $5,000. If that's decent equipment, then it sounds like a decent deal. Then again, I don't know much about karaoke.

I prefer Live Band Karaoke myself. At least where I'm from it's gotten pretty big. Still works the same as karaoke, except instead of a CD backing people up, there's a whole band up there. I actually like it alot better, because I don't think people feel nearly as awkward when they have 5 other guys up there with them.

How does that work? Do you have to words still in front of you? Is your voice louder than the band?

Seems like it would be fun, but it also seems like you would not even be heard. Although, in my case, that might be better..lol

No, naturally they set up a screen for you, but it's not nearly as expensive to set up because you don't have to buy karaoke tracks or anything. You just plug the singer's mic into the PA system as you would with any other band. It's SO much fun, and it always is for the people who come up. With LBK, you can do extended jams, or the vocalist can repeat sections if he/she chooses. There's just a lot more freedom with it. Not to mention, if the vocalist messes up or comes in late/early, with a decent band, they can cover it up like it never happened hahaha.
