candit newbie Registered: 05/15/09 Posts: 30 Loc: Currently sitting in a chair	I can think back and growing up with a family that had me listen to "Oldies" even though that were both parents preferred genre, we really ended up listening to a mix of everything. Is there anyone that really stands out for any of you here now? _________________________ I wanted some cookies, so yes, it was me, in the kitchen with my hand in the cookie jar. I have been caught. cry

slimpickings newbie Registered: 05/15/09 Posts: 30	When you say oldies, which era are you referring to? Now it seems that music from the 80s is considered oldies (and that makes me an oldie...lol). I like music from just about any era and genre except the real heavy metal/grunge/punk/rap stuff.

Santana is great to listen to, as is Eric Clapton. As for the new musicians, I have been checking out Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, Dungen and Regina Spektor. Great stuff.

While I was at WVU I had the honor of accompanying one of the voice professors there on piano (Dr. Gene Galvin - look him up!). The entire first half was standard reportoire for a baritone...Baroque, Classical, and Romantic rundown with a whole set of Faure songs. The 2nd set was all Tom Waits songs. =) We did Diamonds on my Windshield, I Never Talk to Strangers, and a mix of about 3 others. The 3rd set was all Broadway and such. It was SO much fun. _________________________ I love science, and it pains me to think that so many are terrified of the subject or feel that choosing it means you cannot also choose compassion, or the arts, or be awed by nature. I still listen to a lot of country but my favorite music is played by the Eagles, Steve Miller, Chicago and Journey. I am glad my children are growing up loving a wide variety of music as well.

I would highly recommend going to see them whenever you get the chance if you haven't yet. Steve Perry no longer sings for them, but their new vocalist is pretty top notch himself. They actually found him on Youtube. Those are a lot. As for us, what we used to listen to are Alisson Krauss, The beatles, King's Harvest and even Torch.

Steve Perry is not singing for them anymore but they've been blessed with another vocalist which is really good. Its a Filipino actually. And they're still touring the world for concerts. Wow. Philippines really has many great singers.
