Has anybody here played through a Traynor amp?

I used to jam with a friend who had one. I think that maybe the company is now called Yorkville, but I'm not sure they're still making Traynor amps.

I think they were pretty good years ago, but didn't seem as popular as Marshal, for example.

I think they're more known for bass amps but I could be wrong. Guitar World Magazine just did a video review of the Traynor Custom Special head and cab. It sounded pretty good.

My memory of Traynor guitar amps is that they held their own against Fender and Marshall back in the early 1970s (yes, I'm ancient). If you're talking about the Custom Special 50, it appears that they're going after Marshall market, both in looks and performance. I haven't seen anyone use them recently, and the only endorsing artist I recognized on the Traynor website was Cowboy Junkies.

Do you guys expose each other to bands of each other's generation? It would be cool if he's turning you on to new modern bands and you're turning him on to classic older bands.

Absolutely. he's21 and I have heard many, many new bands because of him -- Ludo, Coheed & Cabria, Of Montreal, Motion City Soundtrack, Stone Gods, System of A Down, The Darkness, Panic a the Disco, PT Walkley, just to name a few. In return I have given him The Beatles, The Decemberists, The Subdudes, James Hunter, David Bazan, Jellyfish, New Pornographers, David Byrne and many more. He is more into metal than I am, but he loves "Highway Star" by Deep Purple. when I was his age, my dad wouldn't lsten to anything I liked.

Cool-"Highway Star" is a great song. I'm the same as you because my father never listened to anything I liked either. He could hear Metallica coming from my room and he would say to me "that was the worst band I've ever heard." LOL-I'll never forget one Christmas Eve I had my stereo blasting in my bedroom and he nearly bashed in my door to scream at me that Christmas Eve meant "holy night SILENT night!" LOL

I think dads busting in on kids whose stereos are too loud was required for fatherhood back then. My dad did that with me on "Twist and Shout." Since I like it loud, I've never done that. Yet.
