I have an 8 year old daughter who has expressed interest in learning piano/keyboard, is there a Windows compatible program out there that would be good to teach her and would be easy to use at her age?

Don't use programs. Find a teacher in your area. No Windows program can truly compare to any kind of teacher. No matter how good it is. It can't hear what she sounds like. It can't watch her to notice possible flaws in her technique.

A good teacher should be no more than $20 for an hour lesson for someone at her age. I'd hope you could find one for around $10. Check local music shops, or if you have a local order, Nuns make GREAT teachers (in my experience), and they ALWAYS have at least two or three on staff who are musicians.

Check around, and always make sure to ask for recommendations if you can. =)

Let me know if you have any further questions, but above all, if there's any way I can dissuade you or any further information you need, let me know. Don't use programs.

I agree to that. Piano lessons are what kept me going during my tween years and I started around age 7. There is nothing like the experience of having a knowledgeable instructor to help you perfect your techniques.

i guess a tutorial basis would be most appropriate for your child ..same goes with the other responses here..when it terms for a software..i don't know if there is available for it..

There is certainly software available, and I suppose I should temper my response with the caviat that I don't see much problem in having software as a supplement to lessons, depending on what the teacher asks. He or she will most likely have books for them to buy, which are, by and large, still the best way for teachers to get their point across.

At least until pianos come with computer screens and can run the software.
