What types of instruments does everyone out there play? I am new to the forum but from the looks of things we have a lot of guitar players out there. I was just wondering if any other instruments were represented. I play the acoustic guital and am working on learning some classical. I would love to learn the keyboard.

I love to play my guitar and piano.
There are many instruments with discounts.
But before you buy must check the instrument, and be sure that it is a high quality instrument.

I'm a bassist, pianist, and organist by trade.

I've also dabbled in banjo, concertina (a funky type of accordian), guitar, harmonica, bata percussion (and various other forms of ethnic percussion instruments), as well as harpsichord and pianoforte. Hooray for opportunities to explore at college! =)

I wouldn't have been able to learn all I have without going to a 4-year university for music. It's too bad it's coming to a close finally, but it's been one heck of a ride.

Oh, and before I forget, I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLUY REALLY REALLY want to learn how to play the Erhu (not sure of the spelling...). I saw Bowfire come through town a year ago or so, and now I'm smitten with the instrument. It sounds amazing. It was George Gao who played if I'm not mistaken.

I am a piano dabbler. I pretty much taught myself how to play when I was a little girl and I can play a few songs here and there. My kids are the instrument players. My daughter is a wonderful flute player and my son plays the clarinet.

I am just learning to play Electric guitar I got a fender back in December and am getting to the point where I am confident enough to just play. I have had my King Zephyer Tenor sax for almost 20 years now. I also have a set of Conga drums that I like to play around with when no one is around. They make me feel good.

I am in awe of people that play more than one instrument. I attempted to play quite a few when I was younger: clarinet, guitar, piano. The only one I still enjoy and can play a few tune on are the piano. I love listening to a piano player.

I play Mountain Dulcimer and Guitar. I used to play the piano when I was a child but I've forgotten how. I'd like to try to learn again if I could find someone who specializes in teaching adults in my area. I don't feel like getting my fingers rapped with a pencil at my age.

I mostly play bass but I started out on saxophone. Learning it taught me how to read music and I love the sound of it! I used to play tenor and I wished I still had one....

Any other horn players out there?

Sorry poptart, I'm a strings player as you can see by the post above. My daughter played the flute all through high school and I was hoping she would continue at college but she dropped it.

Guitar now in my adulthood but I still love the sound of a bass, I just can not play one as well as a guitar. smile In my younger years I played the cello, not really rocking it, but I still enjoyed it.

My 3rd grader plays the viola and loves it. My 6th grader just dropped the flute. She liked it but not as much as chorus. She had to choose one over the other for middle school.

It's a shame she had to choose. We tried to get the kids into as much of the arts programs as we could. I think arts help the kids to settle down and to be able to concentrate on what they need to. I just heard that my niece's son is going to major as a music teacher. He has played the tuba in the high school band for four years now and is really good. I think he would be an excellent music major!

I am a drummer, and have been since the first grade. I have an old Niles, Ill. Slingerland kit that I am refurbishing, and a new Roland electronic set for practicing without disturbing my family.

I love the keyboard. I have never taken lessons. I just taught myself a few songs. smile You know, the light up keyboards work great. Hey, I don't even have to look at the lights now. smile

My daughter wants to play in band this coming year. She wants to play the sax. I don't know-I just don't picture her as a sax player, we will see.

I first learned guitar, but moved to drums for good after trying them for the first time. I still play guitar and bass, more for fun and metal exercise. It's so important to play more than one instrument, it makes you understand more the relationship when playing with other musicians.
