Anyone see this recent press releases from Sabian?

Has anyone used bar chimes? What are some example songs where they are used (not necessarily Sabian)..

I've worked with many drummers who use bar chimes. Very atmospheric, especially in softer songs behind a single acoustic guitar. I can't think of one specific situation they are required to be used in, though. If there's a mention of wind in the lyrics, that's a good spot. You just have to feel 'em out.

I have used bar chimes when playing Dust in the Wind by Kansas and Black Water by The Doobie Brothers. Check out some stuff by Dreamtheater, Avantasia, Edguy, King Crimson, and even Rush. I can't recall specific songs right this second but I will go through my library and post a list for you.

Specifically, I use the Treeworks Echo Alternate Tuning, and Treeworks Studio 44 chimes. The Echo is absolutely amazing, it creates a wicked sounding doppler effect, and the Studio Chimes are just your basic windchimes. I use these anytime I want to come off the skins and contribute a different flow to the ensemble. Other than that, Laklander hit the nail right on the head.

To hear a sample of the Treeworks echo... http://www.treeworkschimes.com/tre35xo_specs.html

I've never played with bar chimes. Carter Beauford plays some tasteful chimes on Crash into me.

Wow, this Treeworks Echo chimes could be used in an horror movie. Scary sound!
