My favorites include:
Wes Montgomery -- Those octaves! I am floored each time I hear him pull off those octave melodies like they were as easy as strumming an open C. Easy to miss due to the recordings is Wes' rhythm style, which is also monstrous.
Danny Gatton -- Sometimes when I hear Danny I have to get to a guitar and start playing. Other times he makes me never want to touch a fretboard again. A fountain of inspiration and a severe ego check, Gatton truly was "The Humbler."
Jim Campilongo -- Jim's playing will convince you that Telecasters are this planet's most valuable treasure. Tasty, wild, and energetic, Jim's leads never disappoint and always offer some sonic surprises.
'Cousin' Kenny Vaughan -- I had never heard of this kid until I went to a bluegrass festival headlined by country music staple Marty Stuart. "Cousin" Kenny was his electric guitar player and he absolutely floored my with is inventiveness and technical ability.
Here is a video clip of "Cousin" Kenny. The solo starts at 1:00:
