Fans of post-Gabriel-era Genesis (before they turned into a hit factory with the EWF horns), The Police, Rush and U2, have heard the old Moog Taurus I bass pedal synthesizer. It added a massive, droning bottom end to songs like "Dance on a Volcano," "Where the Streets Have No Name," "Xanadu," "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and many more. Moog stopped producing the Taurus I in the late 1970s and replaced it with the Taurus II, which never did achieve the same classic Taurus rumble and quickly went out of favor. The Taurus I has been available on EBay for years for ridiculous prices of $3000 or more. That may soon end with the introduction of the Moog Taurus III, scheduled to arrive in late 2009.
