I've been thinking about snagging a fretless acoustic bass guitar, butI don't want to spend a ton of money. Dean has two -- the EAB and the EABC (cutaway) that sell for about $200. I have no excperience with Dean basses of any kind, but I know their guitars have a good rep. Anyone out there played a Dean acoustic bass, either fretted or fretless?

I played lots of EABs, Dean included. Most of them were pointless.
No usable sound without amplification.
Two were the exception:
Taylor AB1 and Tacoma Thunderchief.
The Taylor costs loads of money, if you find one.
A decent used Thunderchief (I don't know if Tacoma still makes'em) used to be found at a resonable price. Just beware: it is a very fragile instrument, so, if you decide to buy it, pay atention to minimal detail!
