Taye Studio Maple Drums Review

Taye Drums Percussion

History:

Purchase: I bought the kit for $2000.00 CDN from TOM LEE music. An excellent price considering it's a maple kit. Pearl, DW & Yamaha make excellent kits as well, but be prepared to sell your 1st born to afford one.

What I Like About This Unit: Nice bearing edges. Great finish(Natural). Wonderful sound. I bet the tone can even be better once I replace the factory heads with EVANS. RIMS type tom mounting system, simple but efective. Awesome customer service!! I e-mailed the company a question & that same HOUR I got a response from the man himself, RAY AYOTTE!!

What I Do NOT Like About The Taye Studio Maple Drums: Not too sure about the hardware. It looks good and solid, but haven't gigged with 'em yet. The foot pedal is nice quality, but it feels totally different from what I'm use to. But, that's just my opinion.

Studio Maple Drums Quality: The drums bearing edges and assembly were well done. Hardware looks good and feels strong. Too early to tell if the will stand the test of time. Finishes are nice and even on all my drums.

Summary: Solid drums, decent hardware, excellent tone, reasonable price & good customer relations. I can't justify buying a $4000 maple kit. But, I can justify buying a maple kit from a smaller company busting it's hump making great kits at 1/2 the price. Taye Studio Maple, BABY!!

This is a great drumset for the beginner or even the pro who doesn't want to carry his big heavy kit everywhere. Ray Ayotte has a great line of drums
