History:
Purchase: $250 at Costco for a Strat-like guitar pack with a Fender Frontman 15R amp, gig bag, etc.
What I Like About This Fender Starcaster (the Cosco one): It is a stratocaster design, and has a good tone. It is easy to play for beginners like myself, and the amp is great for a little practice amp, with many features including pretty good distortion, a great clean channel, and awesome reverb.
What I Do NOT Like About The Fender Starcaster (the Cosco one): I isn't for beginners--any experienced players would consider it just another Squier-like guitar. The guitar isn't perfect, and neither is the amp. The strings can buzz sometimes, but a higher action setting can help that.
Fender Starcaster (the Cosco one) Quality Rating: It is a beautiful-looking guitar in the first place, and very solid. There really isn't anything cheap-feeling or looking on the guitar or amp. It is made in Indonesia, but constructed as from the U.S.
Review Summary: Its a great kit for beginning guitarists, but anyone using guitars three times the price would find plenty wrong.
