Zildjian Review: A Custom 17" and 18" Crash

Zildjian Drums Percussion

History:

Purchase: First of all im from Switzerland, and 14; so my english isn't the best... We went to New York and I was looking for 2 new Crash. I went to the Sam Ash music store. First I tested some AAX Sabian Cymbals wich I didn't like that much... Then a guy that worked there asked me what kind of music I play. I told him, harder stuff, like Heavy Metal. He said "yeah, I play the same kins of music and I love the Zildjian A-Custom Crash!" so he showed me a 17" inch model. He told me to hit them hard so the full sound comes out of it. Just one hit an I was in love with that goodlooking piece of metal! So I asked him if he had a 18" too. Thank god he said yes. I was not really sure if I should spend so much money for my hobbie in one day. Then the vender said I should play some drums to free my mind. After 5 minutes of playing, it was clear for me that I 'have' to buy those crashs, to tell you one reason here in switzerland they cost more then the double of the price in America (god bless you guys @ sam ash).

What I Like About This Zildjian A Custom 17" and 18" Crash: 17" - Nice brilliant and bright sound with a very nice decay no disturbing over tones in it. 18" - Almost the same but its less exploding. Has a pretty large bell. Very nice to ride on it! Overall they sound very warm, but still you clearly hear them out of the rest!

What I Do NOT Like About The Zildjian A Custom 17" and 18" Crash: Not much; they're both fantastic cymbals!

Zildjian A Custom 17" and 18" Crash Quality Rating: Very thin but they dont feel like the would brake very fast. (I don't want to test that :p) The Bell of the 17" Is not very big but the one of the 18" is logicaly 1" bigger. If u put them on a flat table or what ever they "lay on it perfectly flat" (dont know hot to say that in english)

Review Summary: Great sound and looks, love that brilliant finish on them ;) I would recomend them to every drummer that searches a warm but still cuting crash sound. Worth every penny for me!

Zildjian 21" Z Custom Mega Bell Ride - Man (or woman), JUST BUY IT! I bought it mail-order without ever hearing it first (something I wouldn't necessarilly recommend for every cymbal purchase!!) and it sounds exactly like I thought it should. ROCK ON!...

Zildjian ZBT Series Cymbals - Listen up....ZBT's are decent cymbals, and for the price, no other mfr. can touch their sound quality (no, not comparably-priced Paiste or Sabian...both of which sound OK, but with far less overtone and richness). They may be bottom-of-the-line Zild...

Zildjian 18" Z Custom Medium Crash - This cymbal is a great cymbal, and unfortunatley i cracked it. It still sounds good, kinda trashy which is cool. So you get a lot of playability out of this cymbal even if it is cracked. If you don't have the money to get A customs or K customs then ...

Zildjian 16" A Rock Crash - Not only do I beleive this to be an excellent cymbal, but just the fact of owning one of the most ancient and traditional percussion instruments in the world makes this an excellent value. Take care of ANY Zildjian A, and you'll have her for life....

Zildjian 13" Projection Hi-hats - I am not one to give a seal of perfection to any instrument maker. Every favorite tool has its ups and downs, and how we incorporate those in the way we work defines us as professionnals in our trade. After all, music is all about compromise. But the...

Zildjian Z-custom 16" rock crash - To summarize, don't buy these cymbals unless you just want something loud. They do have an excellent sound for how loud they are ( I think i forgot to mention this eariler), so leave these cymbals for the heaviest of the heavy. That is, after all, ...

Zildjian ZBT 4-Pack Cymbals - Great cymbals that you'll love and you can afford...buy them, they're great....
