History:
Purchase: Purchased at Gutar Center for $399.99. This was created especially for Guitar Center by Schecter. It is based on the C1 series.
What I Like About This Schecter Diamond Series Gryphon: Very solid, well made guitar: maple neck and headstock, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany body with quilted maple top. The neck is bolt-on (4 bolts). This is a hard-tail with string-thru body. It has 2 duncan-designed, split-coil humbuckers, 1 tone and 1 volume pot along with 3-way pick-up selection switch. The neck is unfinished and fast. The action is fairly low and easy on the fingers. There are 24 jumbo frets that are nicely finished and smooth. The grover tuners are rock-solid.
The split-coil humbuckers make this like having 2 different guitars. You can be playing in humbucking mode, with rich tone, then pull up the tone pot and you are now in clean single coil mode. The carved body fits nicely into your torso. This guitar has sustain for days.
What I Do NOT Like About The Schecter Diamond Series Gryphon: There is nothing that I don't like.
Schecter Diamond Series Gryphon Quality Rating: The construction is rock-solid and the quality is amazing.
Review Summary: In looking for a guitar, I looked at, drooled over and played just about everthing. I have it narrowed down to a fat strat and a G&L strat. When I went into the store to play them, the sales person asked what I was looking for and suggested to take a look at the Schecter. I fell in love with it almost instantly. The quality and features are unequalled in this price range.
