Laney Review: HCM30B

Laney Bass Guitar Amplifiers

History:

Purchase: Made a switch from playing the guitar to the bass and needed a practise amp to get started.Got it from Guitar World in Sydney and paid 300 Aus $.

What I Like About This Laney HCM30B: For a low end amp it has a lot of tonal variety , right from being able to get a fat round tone to a funky bright tone its all possible. It also has a line out to send the feed straight to a PA saving the need for mic'ing the amp.

What I Do NOT Like About The Laney HCM30B: The lows arent that great. The compression does nothing more than clip and distort.

Laney HCM30B Quality Rating: Its really tough and quite heavy for a 30W amp. Ive dropped it , banged it , cranked it and what not and still in perfect condition.

Review Summary: Ive had this amp for 10 months and have played about 6 gigs for approx 30 to 50 people with it and my friends in the crowd said they could hear me fine also during recording the jams even without a mixer the bass is heard distinctly. My neighbours complain even when i jam on the volume just at around 4 , although that would be mostly because of my lousy playing but its still a nice loud amp. Overall a great beginner/practise amp.

Laney HCM120R - i love my laney. this is a very underated amp. if you play heavy distortion alot, investing in a nice distortion pedal would give you a kick ass, powerful, sweet setup!...

Laney VC30 - This is a must for all A-class fans. If you want pure full whipped cream tone and more volume than your parents will ever allow you to use, this is the one for you.......

Laney LC-15 - Overall, I am pleased with the amp. It's darned good tone for the money. I don't expect life-changing tone in such a modest package. If you buy one I would recommend replacing the tubes with Ruby tubes or NOS, and putting in your favorite Weber s...

Laney LC30-II - I love it to bits. It makes such a difference when your tone is right, and this amp has all I could want at a relatively affordable price. It's enriched my band and my gigging pleasure significantly! I would recommend it, but would add that it's wel...
