History:
Purchase: I bought this cymbal at Midwest Drum & Percussion in Wichita roughly 9 years ago. I can't remember exactly how much, but somewhere around $180. This cymbal caught my atteniton because it had a strong latin sound, and at the time I was playing Latin and Jazz.
What I Like About This Sabian 18" El Sabor Crash: Once I began to use it, I quickly realized it can work in any style you try. I has such a warm and deep sound, but not to warm to make it specialized. The attack is a slower, more mellow sound cmpared to other crashes of it's size When I played rock I could smack it as hard as I wanted and it would deliver an intense hit every time, it also worked great combining with other crash for dual hits. It also has a oversized bell so you can get a great authentic latin sound. At one point, It was the only crash I used on my set, it was all I needed. I have never heard such a diverse and beautiful cymbal. Still the best one I have ever bought.
What I Do NOT Like About The Sabian 18" El Sabor Crash: It started to crack about 2 years ago( 7-8 years old). It is not playable now, chunks of it flew off(once it hit the lead singer in the ear, now that was classic). More than I likely I was just not treating it with consideration, because I banged the @#*! out of it for 3 solid years. So, it is not the most durable, but still can step up to the task. Otherwise, I was completely satisfied.
Sabian 18" El Sabor Crash Quality Rating: It is an 18" crash with about a 4" inch bell. Being from Sabian AA's series, it's quality is pretty descent, it definetly has a particular tone to it that will not be found in most crashes
Review Summary: This cymbal served me well, It can work for Jazz, Latin, Rock, Funk, even Orchestral. I would tell everyone to but it, especailly if you are starting out looking for a diverse cymbal. Because I tell you what, you find one more diverse than this.
