Warwick Review: Corvette Active

Warwick Bass Guitars

History:

Purchase: I bought this from the bass cellar in London for £750, it was my first german built bass

What I Like About This Warwick Corvette Active: well it certainly lives up to the reputation, it looks very classy and it has a very sleek design, the sound is nice and punchy and you can get a full on bass tone or a funky jazz tone out of it, i like the push pull volume knob that lets you bypass the battery turning it into a passive bass, the snap on cover is quite convienient and I like the adjustable nut and the adjustable bridge, it lets you create any kind of action you want, the bass holds its tuning very well even after ive slapped the hell out of it, comes with a really good quality gig bag.

What I Do NOT Like About The Warwick Corvette Active: ok firstly because its bubinga wood its very heavy, it really takes its toll when you have to carry this to rehearsals, on stage it isnt too bad if you have a nice fat padded strap on, there was a problem with the input jack so i had to have it replaced, i found a couple of dead spots on it too, mainly the fifth fret on the heavy string, plus i didnt know this at the time but it has the same pickups as the rockbass, and my thumb marked it easily above the pickup where it rested, plus waxing is a bit of a pain because it can get down the side of the pickups and the bridge etc...

Warwick Corvette Active Quality Rating: very solid, heavy, neck is straight and doesnt shift, like i said a little jack problem but that was it,

Review Summary: nice bass, well built, holds tuning well, sounds good, looks very classy, id reccomend this as your first step into the world of warwick basses, ive upgraded now to a streamer lx4 which i will also write a review on, all in all a quality bass at a fair price,

Rating of this Warwick product: 4

Warwick Thumb 5 Neckthrough - Having owned two other Warwicks, the Thumb 5 was a great disappointment. The fact that Warwick refused to provide a replacement given the instrument's defects (and that they wouldn't respond to my e-mails directly) only made the whole experience wor...

Warwick Thumb 5 Neck-Through - The Warwick has a tone that growls and a weight that will make you groan. So if you like deep punchy tone that will cut through any mix and arn't a 90-pound weakling this bass is for you....

Warwick Piezo Corvette Std FL4 - Despite some technical complaints, once it's in play, it's a keeper, big time. When I got it, it had steel roundwounds on it and the piezo output had an enormously metalic clang for a voice. Switching to Labella nylon wrap flats brought out the acous...

Warwick RockBass Corvette - I would highly recommand this bass for beginners for two reasons : Its price, which is really aggressive for such a quality instrument, and its versatility (I've played few other active basses, especially Ibanez, during my buying process. IMHO, the W...

Warwick Thumb Bolt On 4 String - A well constructed bass that is a pleasure to hear and play. It looks great and will retain its value well. It has all the power and growl of a musicman stingray but looks nicer. A superb bass, well recommended...
