History: I have been playing drums for a year and a half, I play for fun, not in a band yet. STyles I ply are punk, metal, emo, hardcore, I like to add some funk, blues and prog to my playing.
Purchase: I got this cymbal at Steves in Montreal, for 175 CDN, tax included. I was looking for a heavier crash than my med-thins to crash-ride on.
Pros: I was weary of getting a cymbal labelled "metal", as they are usually just loud white noise, and very unresponsive and non musical. These are a great change of pace. While they are still dedicated to metal and louder styles, it is responsive and sensitive, more so than Z Customs and AAX Metal. Its bright, but dryer than my AAXplosions, so they offer a nice mix. I crash-ride on it a lot, and sometimes I'll use it as a light ride.
Cons: It is heavy, and you do need to play a tad harder than usual to get its fullest sound. However, that is it's purpose, so I wont complain about it.
AA Metal-X 19" Crash Quality: Its Sabian's B20 metal, well made, traditional wide lathing. The only thing I dont like about it is the look. It doesnt look like a trad finish cymbal, but its not a brilliant. Kinda weird. Sabian Summary: This crash serves it' purpose. Its loud and bright, but still pretty responsive. Most versatile of the "metal" cymbals, but still kinda one-dimensional.
