Dunlop Review: Cry Baby GCB-95

Dunlop Guitar Effects

History: I play a Gibson Voodoo Les Paul Model through a 1979 Marshall MkII and vintage cabinet. I like to have the ablity to go from classic Zep to metallica crunch and back, with no effects.

Purchase: Traded for a 15 watt Crate practice amp.

What I Like About This Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95: Not very much. Had I developed any ear for tone I wouldn't have traded for it. It's very sturdy, I'll give it that.

What I Do NOT Like About The Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95: The range on it is horrible. No matter how much time or effort I've put into it, I've been unable to get an acceptable sound from it. Under high distortion there is nearly no response, which combined with it's poor range makes it pretty well useless. I've spent a lot of time adjusting settings on my amp, guitar, and a pedal equalizer to no avail. I've never gotten any use out of it, and wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who couldn't modify it themselves. It's also difficult to get it to bypass, often a good stomp won't do it. I also have a cable designed to make better contact with inputs that won't fit in it.

Dunlop Cry Baby GCB-95 Quality Rating: Solid design, so if you need a shell it could be good.

Review Summary: This is a piece of shit. Anyone who knows what they're doing will stay away from this.

Rating of this Dunlop product: 1

Dunlop DB01 Dimebag Darrell Signature Wah - The unit gives the dimebag sound we love, and you can also model signature wah sounds of your own. From the cool camo paint job to the CFH logo on the pedal. You can play mellow fills and riffs then kick in the volume boost and play souped up leads...

Dunlop Crybaby 535Q - Don't waste your time on that "classic Wah" from Morley. I tried it out and it takes your distortion and shits on it! This wah can add distortion (in fact it's very good at doing that) or give you clean, buttery wah! BUY IT!!!...

Dunlop Picks - buy this pick if you like to play lould heavy long....

Dunlop Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face - This is definitely a "boutique" type of pedal. Perfect for certain situations, but probably not something you're going to be using all of the time - unless all you play is old Clapton and Hendrix tunes....

Dunlop TS-1 Tremolo Stereo Pan - If you are looking to add some color to your pedals and you want a good quality pedal, then you will enjoy the tremelo. If you are a beginner , stay away, you don't need it....

Dunlop Crybaby GCB95 Wah Wah Pedal - This is a pedal that should be in everyone's rig. Classic sound and heavy-duty construction make this a winner....

Dunlop QZ-1 Crybaby Q Zone - For $100, I think it has limited functionality. It's really a pedal for a specific purpose and I probably shouldn't have picked it up. I was more curious than anything. If you've got the application for it, I'd highly recommend it, just don't expect ...

Dunlop Bridge Pin Puller - I hope there are more colours to add to my collection Jim Dunlop certainly comes up with the best innovations...

Dunlop Cry Baby Bass Wah-Wah 105Q - well if u want to make ur own artifitial sound then this is the way to go after a while u learn how to properly se it to distinguish the right emotion of the sound...
