History: I have played guitar for about 9 years. I play mostly rock and blues, but also get into some jazz, country, and experimental alternative music as well. I've played in several bands throughout the years, nothing that really was ever that serious, mostly just for fun in college. Currently I just started playing in a new band and we're trying to get some original songs down so we can play some shows. I like to listen to all kinds of music, it just depends on what mood I'm in.
Purchase: I learned of Gadow Guitars through a guitar player magazine review a few years ago. I then researched the guitar and company for a long time until it was finally what I decided to buy. I bought it at Elderly Instruments in Lansing, MI and paid $1,850.
What I Like About This Gadow Custom Hollow: This is by far the best guitar I've ever owned and what I like most about it is the versatility. This guitar can cover the entire gamut of styles no problem. It features a chambered semi-hollow body, mahogany back and figured quilted maple top. Double humbucker with push-pull coil taps for single coil tones. This guitar is easy to dial in the tones you want with it's simple, but effective, layout. The sustain is great and the tone is sweet.
What I Do NOT Like About The Gadow Custom Hollow: I wouldn't change a thing about the guitar, but if I had to choose something I would say at low amp volumes, the volume pot on the guitar cuts off quickly. However, at higher volumes it's great.
Gadow Custom Hollow Quality Rating: Top notch. This is a custom build guitar from luthier Ryan Gadow and I have found no problems or faults on the guitar yet. I've owned it for just over a year now and I like it just as much or more each time I pick it up.
Review Summary: This is a great guitar. All the guitars that Gadow makes are of the highest quality and play great, feel great, sound great, and look amazing. In the custom guitar world they are priced very modestly for what you get. This is a company that I hope to see on the rise in the next few years.
