Fender Review: Bassman 150

Fender Bass Guitar Amplifiers

History: Played guitar professionally 20+ years ago. Currently a bass player in a local mid life crises blues/rock band.

Purchase: I wanted to get rid of my Behringer BX1200 Ultrabass combo amp. So I was researching combo amps for rehearsal and small bar gigs on Musicians Friend when I came across this amp. I tried it out at a local music store and liked what I heard. I bought it on the spot after 30 minutes of playing.

What I Like About This Fender Bassman 150: It has a very nice Eminence 12inch speaker with an adjustable horn. 4band EQ in addition to standard bass and treble controls, tuner input, balanced direct out, tilt back design (nice touch),ground lift switch, effects send/return, +/- 6db switch, line compressor. All things that contribute to the versatility of the unit. You will get a good usable tone from this amp. Oh, and it's only about 39 pounds!

What I Do NOT Like About The Fender Bassman 150: During very long sets this unit will protest by getting a little "farty sounding" not on every note, but it can be annoying. take 10 and its fine. I'll be upgrading soon because my band will be playing larger venues but I'll keep this a a rehearsal amp.

Fender Bassman 150 Quality Rating: Contruction is solid, durable corners lightwieght but strongsurvived a 3ft drop with no known problems. Knobs are nice, controls are responsive.

Review Summary: IMHO This is a much better product than the comparable Behringers.

Rating of this Fender product: 5

Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus - Its a decent practice amp, but I can't see this thing making it over any more of a gig than a coffee house setting without a drummer. It has 51 watts bridged and 25.5 watts stereo through 2-10 inch Eminence made Fender "custom" speakers. Its a good s...

Fender Squier - I'm going to rate this a 4, because for me to give it a 5 would mean it's incredible. It is a good guitar though, and I do know some people that have been playing a long time that even bring it to gigs because it feels comfortable. I've got good use ...

Fender Rumble 100 - If you are looking for a new amp and you are on a budget, I would recommend going with a Fender Rumble 100. It will not let you down. It has a lot of great features and it also has an affordable price ranging from $300 to $350 depending on where yo...

Fender Deluxe Power House Stratocaster - The bottom line is...this is a great axe for a moderate price. It is very versatile due to the fact that it's a strat, and because of its midboost. It is a Mexican made guitar but with American Pickups, and it sounds great. The neck feels good, an...

Fender Squier P/J (Indonesia) Bass - A great starter bass for the musician. I bought this for studio work, as my main instrument is the guitar, but I needed a cheap bass to lay down some tracks with. It has done admirably for that purpose....
