Tama Superstar Custom Fusion with 22"x18" Kick Review

History: I play a Tama Superstar Custom (Fusion with the extra 16" x 13" tom) in Custom Scarlet fade. I have been a drummer for approx 12yrs in various bands. The genres ranging from rock, pop, jazz, blues, funk and anything in between.

Purchase: I accuired it via www.maxmusic.co.za These guys have excellent service and they sure went the extra mile to ensure I get what I wanted. I payed about $ 800 for the kit. Well I bought the kit because I rented one for a gig once and it was a lot better than my more expensive Gretsch Kit.

What I Like About This Tama Superstar Custom Fusion with 22"x18" Kick: Above all the built quality. These drums are made to last, the shells, the hardware and the small thing we usually take for granted like tuning rods. Secondly the absolutely great sound that you get with these easy to tune midrange kit. They sound great, both live on stage and in the studio. I have a Tama drum dial and I use it to tune my kit and every time the sound is exactly what I want, according to my tatse that is. Believe me, I use my kit everywhere and it always sounds great. The Custom Scarlet finish looks real pro and it adds to all the other great pro like features of this awesome kit.

What I Do NOT Like About The Tama Superstar Custom Fusion with 22"x18" Kick: Honestly, I played various kits ranging from Yamaha, Pearl, Gretsch and Pdp pacific and this kit is the only midrange kit that can compare with the big boys. The only other kit I will prefer above this kit is the new Tama Bubinga. If I must say something I dislike, is that you do not get a 22"x18" virgin bass drum. Besides that I am very very happy with my kit.

Summary: My thoughts, hmmm . . . . well if you are a beginner or a pro this kit fits in everywhere and it is priced to go. Buy this kit, you will not be dissapointed, but in the end like anything else in life, it ALL come down to personal preference
