History: I play guitar, bass, keys and do some home studio recording as a hobby. I've been playing for about 20 years and enjoy mostly country and classic rock.
Purchase: I bought this acoustic online at Musicians Friend for about $950. I wanted a higher quality acoustic and couldn't believe the prices on these Gibson's. Maybe I've been out of the market for a while, but I just think this represents a good deal.
What I Like About This Gibson Songmaker DSM Dreadnought: What's not to like? Here's a little about the guitar from the MF site: The Gibson DSM Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is crafted in Canada and features a solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, and a solid mahogany bolt-on neck. The dreadnought body style and mahogany body structure fuse to create a rich, powerful sound with lots of punch and projection. The DSM has an ebony fingerboard and bridge, a tortoiseshell pickguard, and die-cast chrome tuners. Includes a Gibson hardshell case.
What I Do NOT Like About The Gibson Songmaker DSM Dreadnought: The bindings are a little plain, but I guess for the price I can't complain. It's not like they're going to throw in mother-of-pearl in this price range too.
Gibson Songmaker DSM Dreadnought Quality Rating: Very solid and high quality. I'm very impressed with the tone and rigidity and the action is sweet too. This guitar really plays nicely.
Review Summary: This is not a cheap guitar, it's just a thousand dollar Gibson. It's high quality and plays smoothly and I'm really impressed with what they've been able to accomplish in this price range. I'd buy another if I could, but I think this will last me a while.
