History: I started playing about a year ago. I like to play classic rock and jangly stuff (REM mostly)
Purchase: I was originally thinking of a Rickenbacker so I went to the local guitar store. They didn't have any Ricks in stock so I looked around a bit and found the Tele. I played on it and absolutely loved it. I think it cost about $1500
What I Like About This Fender American Standard Telecaster: I love the variety you can get out of it. It's designed for country twang and it definitely does that, but I can also jangle on it. It distorts nicely too. Overall the sound is awesome. I also love the neck (mine is maple). It's thin and easy to play on.
What I Do NOT Like About The Fender American Standard Telecaster: I only have 2 complaints. The knobs aren't numbered. It would be easier to remember tone settings with numbers. My other is that the jack is deep so not all cables work with it.
Fender American Standard Telecaster Quality Rating: It's a great solid-body, mine is natural with a black pickguard, got a good variety of colors. Two single coils, one tone and one volume knob. Quality is great, the only thing I've done to it is raised the pickups. Sound quality is great.
Review Summary: Bottom line: It's an amazing instrument with a wide range of tones. A couple minor issues that could be changed. Nice simple design too. 5 stars.
