History: I'm an old timer, have been playing for 20 years and focus primarily on acoustic jams. I like to bring out a beater acoustic at parties and cookouts and play some popular tunes that folks can sing along to. It's always sort of been my thing to do this and folks have come to expect it, even to the point that when they invite me, they say - don't forget your guitar!
Purchase: Got this from a friend who was moving. He had a bunch of guitars and was just getting rid of a few. I guess this guitar was about 10 years old and he let me have it for about $200, which I thought was a good price considering these things are about $500 new. Or at least they were.
Pros: It's simple, but elegant, and plays really easy. The tone is good, the action is good. It stays in tune too. I like the black color, I think it's sharp and unassuming.
Cons: I don't like the round bowl plastic back. I can't get this thing to stay on my lap to save my life. The bridge is also a little worn and there seems to be some sharp edges that sometimes will unseat the strings. It's probably just the combination of cheap bridge materials and age, but for what it's worth I don't particularly care for this issue too much.
Quality: This guitar is probably not made in America based on the price, but it seems reasonably well constructed and I know my friend has not had any problems with it, including warping, breakage, etc.
Summary: Overall I think I got a really good deal. It's always nice when you can find a used guitar for a great price. I've been looking around flea markets and garage sales for a good second beater and this will definitely fit the bill.
