Yamaha Review: RBX-270

Yamaha Bass Guitars

History:

Purchase: I picked this bass up at a local music store (Archambault, in Montreal) with the money I got for Christmas, I got an amazing deal on it for Boxing day, it was marked down from 480 to 320 Canadian Dollars. For the price, this has got to be one of the nicest basses around.

What I Like About This Yamaha RBX-270: I like the overall design of the guitar, the body is nice and small, but not too small. The neck is perfect for my playing style, the string action is so close, and the tone is amazing. Thisbass comes with a P/J pickup como, lace sensor style...They sound awesome. There are 3 POTs, 1 volume, 1 Tone and a fader for between the 2 pickups. This bass is light! I play a Fender P-Bass and this has got to be 1/2 the weight, doesn't kill the shoulder. The input jack is excellent, it's not the type that screws in so you don't have to worry about it loosening and falling out. It grips the plug in real tight to ensure it doesn't come out (Side mount) when you're on stage, and by the way it looks awesome when you're playing it.

What I Do NOT Like About The Yamaha RBX-270: There's not much I don't like about this bass...But I don't quite like the plastic knobs on the pots, but those can be exchanged for some nice solid chrome knobs for a few bucks. Another dislike is the design of the headstock, nothing major but it just looks a little too short.

Yamaha RBX-270 Quality Rating: The body is solid Alder, Rosewood Fingerboard, I beleive the neck is maple, not quite sure. The hardware is chrome and so is the bridge. The pickups are lace style. The finish is nice and even, mine has a metallic red finish, looks real nice.

Review Summary: This bass looks like it's worth 700 dollars but it's so affordable and sounds excellent. I'd reccomend this for a first, second or even third instrument, it's fun to play and it looks great.

Yamaha ERG 121 - Well, if youre looking to get started, I dont think there is a better guitar to invest in. Obviously as your playing technique increases, there are heaps of guitars that can offer alot more than the ERG 121. So a guitar for the beginners......

Yamaha FG730S - Bottom line is I don't like guitar center because they try to re sell you stuff as new that other people brought back. I examined this guitar for a good 30 minutes and could not find anything wrong with it. I am pretty confident that this one was br...
