Zoom Review: ST224 Sampletrak

Zoom Keyboard MIDI

History:

Purchase: I purchased th unit cash from Mars music in the Metro Detroit area. The reason I purchased the unit was to enable me to sequence songs.

What I Like About This Zoom ST224 Sampletrak: There are several thing that make this unit special. First and foremost the user interface is probably the most freindly of all the other units I have played with. I definitely like the fact that the unit is small enough to transport anywhere and set up. The smart media card also add some spunk to the unit allowing you to store alot more info without clogging up the internal memory. Another great thing about the unit is that it comes with built in effects. Unlike some of it's bigger brethren " Akai's mpc series", There are no after purchase upgrades to drain your bank account.

What I Do NOT Like About The Zoom ST224 Sampletrak: There are very few things that are undesirable about this machine. The only real kink in the unit is it's appearance. "How can a unit so small and unassuming be so versatile and easy to use?" Don't let the looks fool you though. This unit rocks!

Zoom ST224 Sampletrak Quality Rating: Construction is great! The unit withstands hours of use a daily. The buttons and knobs are beefy and take quite a bit of abuse. I refer to the unit as "Little Big Man". Zoom had a great idea by lighting the pads on the unit. When a pad is in operation it is lit. This makes editing very simple because you don't have to fumble around to find a particular pad.

Review Summary: My personal feelings are quite simple: Zoom has trough a curveball at the competition by creating a unit at a third of the price of comparable units. If these big companies don't watch out Zoom will soon corner the market for pre-production equipment.

Zoom MRS-4 Digital Recorder - I reccomend this product to anyone who is in the market for a home based recording studio, it even has added sound effects that can be applied during mix down. It comes complete with a range of effects for vocals as well as instruments. There are fou...

Zoom GFX 707 - Decent pedal for a newb just getting into guitar. Its got a lot of show and not so much go go go. If I had the choice to buy this again knowing what I know now I probably wouldn't do it. Just pick the few effects that you want and buy used stompbox...

Zoom 505 II - you pay for what you get. its good for the couple pedals you could replace with it, but you can't get all the inbetween settings that you could with a regular stomp box without the expression pedal. plus the tuner isn't bad. probally the best part...

Zoom 505 II - I'd recommend this baby to any intermediate / beginner. Good value for money. Packs a lot of tones ... comes close to many signature tones...like Metallica - Black Album, Slayer, Kill em all. Just a wee....a real wee lil bit digitized though. U go...

Zoom 505 II - I thought this effects pedal was great - it did everything I expected it to do, worked a treat and has a huge support base. I find it great for personal use, but if you're looking for a sturdy pedal for gig usage I really wouldn't recommend this. If ...

Zoom GFX-707 - If you're looking for dedicated state-of-the-art FX units, this may not be for you, but you'd have to spend a lot more to get anything that comes even close to what this does. I've had this for 5 years now, I use it all the time, and I'm not selling!...
