Gibson Review: Les Paul Studio

Purchase: I paid $1099.00 for it at a local Guitar Center

What I Like About This Gibson Les Paul Studio: The sound man. Just play a couple chords and you can see why so many people love Gibson guitars. I have played a Fender a lot in past years and the sort of 'twangy' noise it makes had always irritated me. The sound on The LP Studio is very rich and deep and warm. Perfect for rock, metal, blues, etc. The neck is smooth and easy to play. I like the fact that the neck is a little wider than some guitars, but I have big hands...However, the BEST thing about the guitar is that it sounds so nice and plays so nice for only about half the cost of an LP Standard. And the sound is very similar. You can hardly tell the difference. The main thing that makes them different is that the Studio is made out of a slightly thinner piece of mahogany and it doesn't have all the fancy binding, finishes, inlays, etc. that the Standard has. Finally, some people say that they don't like the weight of the guitar. I like it. I think it makes the guitar feel more solid and it doesn't move around the way a really light guitar does when you walk around and such.

What I Do NOT Like About The Gibson Les Paul Studio: Absolutely nothing. Like everyone says, the straps can come off, but just buy some straplocks for under 20 bucks and problem solved...I mean, if you can afford a $1,000 guitar then surely you can afford some straplocks...

Gibson Les Paul Studio Quality Rating: Very well constructed. Like I said, the only difference from more expensive LP's is basically cosmetic...the construction is the same. It feels very solid.

Review Summary: Hmmm, all in all a great guitar especially if you can't afford an extremely flashy guitar, but want one that sounds just as good.
