History:
Purchase: I purchased it online, through ebay from Worldmusicsupply.com. I believe I paid about $250 before shiipping and a case.
What I Like About This Takamine EG531C: This was my first guitar, and I really didn't know what I was getting into. The guitar has fairly good sound despite the laminated construction. The onboard electronics are convenient to get the proper sound, and it sounds good plugged in. The finish was spectacular...a high gloss...until it got a little abused. The tuning machines work well.
What I Do NOT Like About The Takamine EG531C: I wasn't aware at the time, but don't expect too much from mass produced korean factory guitars. There are some manufacturing flaws and the attention to detail is a little sloppy. The high gloss finish gets a little sticky on the next and slows down the action a tad.
Takamine EG531C Quality Rating: There is warping at the 14th fret which causes noticable string buzz. The joint between the neck and body looks a little sloppy. The battery in the electronics tends to run out pretty quickly.
Review Summary: If you can find a decent price for the guitar, it's a good deal, especially since you get the electronics too. I'd recommend having it setup properply, and inspect the guitar for construction quality, since it's a mass produced guitar. Great first guitar.
