Kramer Review: Focus 420S (Right-handed)

Kramer Bass Guitars

History:

Purchase: The Kramer (a division of Gibson) Focus 420S bass guitar: I bought this 4-string off of musicyo.com, which is a great place for basses, guitars, amps, and other music stuff. It normally costs about $100 there, but I bought a starter bass package for $190. It included a Kramer bass amp, MusicYo gigbag, quality strap, guitar/bass tuner, and 10' cord. A sweet deal to say the least.

What I Like About This Kramer Focus 420S (Right-handed): It was cheap, as evident by the above paragraph. It plays well, too. Aesthetically pleasing (vintage sunburst with black pickguard), this bass caught my eye quickly. Not much to say except that its very fun to play, has a great sound

What I Do NOT Like About The Kramer Focus 420S (Right-handed): It is probably not of the best quality, just because it is kind of a beginner's bass (in this writer's opinion). A more serious bass player might like to check out the other Kramer basses, or perhaps the Tobias and Steinbergers on musicyo.com. However, for me, its fantastic.

Kramer Focus 420S (Right-handed) Quality Rating: Not exactly to contradict the last paragraph, but the Focus 420S really is a quality instrument. especially where price is concerned. It seems to be assembled perfectly and all that. Solid everything.

Review Summary: A great idea for any bassists, but especially for anyone who is just starting.

Rating of this Kramer product: 5

Kramer VT111S - Musicyo advertises this as a "professional" guitar. Their out of their mind, no professional would use this. Luckily, I'm just an amateur who never gigs or nothing so it's okay for me to mess around on. Would not be good for beginners, takes some adv...

Kramer Duke Bass [headless aluminum neck] - It's a weird, unique, but simplistic and minimalist ax with a big heart and voice. The metal neck gives it decent sustain despite the short scale, but depending on your attack and position, you can still get that percussive "short scale sound"...

Kramer Focus VT111S Deluxe - This is a great guitar for the price. It's well-made, sounds good, and for someone with not small hands, it would be perfect as a starter model. If your teenager wants to play guitar - and wants a strat - this is the one to get him or her. I belie...

Kramer Pioneer - I recommend these highly if you can find one. Kramer is noted for those funky metal basses with the split headstocks, these are a real pleasant and quality surprise diversion from those. ...

Kramer Ferrington 6 string - I have no plans or need to buy a different guitar. With the aid of my effects box, the Kramer Ferrington allows me to play anything from folk acoustic, to metal and everything in between. On the 1-5 scale I have to give it a 4 because of the annoying...

Kramer VT211-S Fatboy Deluxe - This guitar should not be compared to a high end instrument since it is not intended to be one. However, I think one would be hard pressed to find a better guitar in this price range. In fact, going a step further, I think one would be hard pressed t...

Kramer Striker FR422S/D - Too sell such a great guitar at such a low price is a crime! I don't think you'll find another guitar in that price range that can match up to it. I've been playing for a year and I've put it through hell and it's still going strong!...

Kramer K-15B - It's a good pratice amp. End of story. It gives you the practice sound you want and need. You can probably buy a better one if you spent more money but I just got this with the package, so I am happy. The package is a good deal, of that's what you're...
