Encore PK40 Reviews7 Found On 2008-02-15, wigsy gave this Encore Bass Guitar a 3...(12902) History: well im a punk pop/alternative rock player for about 1 year now and have tried all bass techniques but found finger playing rather good
Purchase: well i got this bass for christmass 2006 and i believe it was from argos for 140(pounds) with a selection of picks a lead and a b.b. blaster amp with bass mid treble and volume Pros: i like the playability of the unit and the weight of it isnt much and wont hurt your shoulder after 2 hrs messing about with your mates. Also the tone of the bass is rather good for a bass selling at 60(pound). Cons: well first off within one month i had to solder the wires to the jack and i have recently discovered that 4 wires need to be resoldered but ive fixed the problem with a little sellotape :). Aswell as the lack luster wiring the crackly tone is a big problem as soon as you turn it up it crackles like a boiling egg but thwese can be solvd with a change of pick up Quality: The construction on all the wooden parts of the bass are emaculate and are really good but all the electrical problems knock it down a few pegs but seeing thart you have to expect this from a encore guitar its ok Summary: This bass is perfect for beginners or smaller people who are willing to upgrade the parts

Purchase: I got it in a small music store in Dublin, paid €199(not too bad). i was only starting out so i wasnt looking for anything brilliant Pros: Not much! its a good enough bass to start your road to glory with. its easy to play and it stays in tune fairly good. Cons: its unbelievable noisy, its always spitting and crackling and thats even wih the gain turned down! but worst of all is the electronics. i had to re-solder the whole lot of it and now the volume dial has given up(it does loud and off,no more no less) Quality: its very sturdy and the finish is fairly good. it doesnt dent easily so in the retrospect its good for a beginer Summary: apart from the electronics its good but then again whats an electric guitar without electrics?

Purchase: I bought this bass guitar as it seemed like a good idea to form a band. I bought it from a guitar dealer, Strings, on the Isle of Wight. It cost me a nice £139, a reasonable sum. Pros: The unit is good because the price is very reasonable for a start. It plays very well, does not need to be fiddled around with, making it ideal for a beginner bassist like me. Cons: I think that the unit is too bland, and it doesnt't look flashy enough. It is a simple guitar, for a inexpensive price, so you can't expect top-of-the-range items installed on it. Quality: The Construction is very sturdy indeed. I have dropped it many an occasion, as i am a clumsy fool, but it still plays as good when it was new. Summary: This guitar, for the price, is one of the best basses to buy. It sounds cool, it looks nice (even if it is rather bland) and i would definetely recommend it for wannabe bassists.

Purchase: I bought this particular unit in Strings Guitar Centre in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. I bought it because I had just decided to play bass and it was a great deal. It included a Kustom amplifier and 20' Peavey instrument lead all for £160. Pros: I like its colour and its weight, it's not too heavy. I like the fact it has a precision head with large keys for easy tuning. It has a nice guard to protect the wood and it has two silver knobs for volume and tone. Also I think that the shape of this guitar makes it very easy to play very fast music, like Punk or Skate. Cons: I particularly dislike the darker wood on the fretboard. The downside of the large keys is that they can be knocked easily putting the guitar out of tune. Other than this it's pretty good. Quality: It's a two piece unit, neck and body with double pickups. The quality is very good and it has a great shiny finish. Along with its sturdy strings and strong bridge it has very strategically placed volume and tone knobs for easy access. Summary: I think I've written everything you need to know about this model. If I had to summarise it in one word it would have to be 'great'. There's nothing else to say really.
