Hohner HW-220 Review

History:

Purchase: Went looking for my first guitar at a Rochester, NY area guitar shop (Stutzman's Guitars), and bought this one at the salesman's suggestion for $100. That's less than half what I had expected to spend that night.

Pros: This guitar is everything I need in a first guitar. The action is low and it's pretty easy to tune and play. It stays in tune pretty well, too. It seems durable. The few times that I've knocked it around hasn't left even the smallest blemish. They say that solid tops are louder but this one, with its laminated top, puts out plenty of sound.



Cons: I can't think of anything I don't like, but being a beginner, I really can't say I'd know what to look for.

HW-220 Quality: I find no flaws in the construction. All the joints are tight, the finish is good, and I'm happy with everything.

Hohner Summary: This seems to be a great guitar for someone like me who wants to see if they really want to learn to play. I have no hesitation is saying this guitar delivers far more than its low price tag suggests. At some point, I'll probably buy something better, but this one is the one I'll take with me out to sing around the campfire!
