History:
Purchase: I got my Peavey guitar on August 10th, 2002, from a music shop called 'Select Guitars' in Rowayton, CT. I'd originally intended to buy a Strat, but the shop only had two of them (one was a piece-of-crap Squier, and the other was the Jimi Hendrix signature), and I couldn't afford either one, so I bought the Peavey instead. It only cost about $150, so it was pretty cheap. Then I played it at a friend's house and drove his family through the roof, so i started to play it even more, to the extent that my fingers started to bleed (I don't like to use picks).
Pros: It's got better fret access than the Strat, it has a Humbucker in the bridge position, the tremolo arm is just as good as that of a Strat, and it sounds awesome, even on low volume settings. And did I mention that it didn't cost much?
Cons: Unfortunately, it needs to be retuned whenever you use the tremolo. The tuners suck-if you twist them so much as a millimeter too far, the string will break. Also, the jack isn't positioned like it would be on a Strat-if i drop it, the amp lead is broken beyond repair.
Raptor EXP plus Quality: When I got it, it was brand new, but I've broken it in, so to speak. Aside from a little scuff-mark on the peghead, it was in mint condition. Peavey Summary: As long as I've got this Peavey guitar, I'll be free of the obsession that everyone has with Fender and Gibson products. On a scale of one to ten, I give the Peavey Raptor Plus EXP a twelve!
