Purchase: I bought this guitar just over a year ago at Guitar Center on Xmas Eve (gift to myself...yay!) It cost me $425, and for another $75 I got a hardshell case to go with it.
Pros: It's electric blue with creme binding, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I have a penchant for blue guitars, but this one is the cat's ass. The first time I picked it up I fell in love with it. The neck is so thin and smooth, and I can run up and down it all day. The diamond neck inlays look good too. It's hefty and weighs on the shoulder to the point where you feel like you're actually holding a piece of something solid, but it's not like a Les Paul, where it'll take your shoulder off. The mahogany body resonates SOOOOO nicely. Unplugged, it rings, but plug it in and it's amazing.
Cons: The Duncan Design pickups that come stock in it (mine had HB-103s, modeled after Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups) aren't the greatest in the world. They're alright for a while but eventually I had to upgrade. I put an EMG-85 in the neck and an EMG-81 in the bridge, and the active circuit of these pickups brought this already kickass guitar to life. They cost me $175, but they were worth every penny. Not to mention the fact that they accent the guitar. They just kind of fall into place with the already stunning beauty.
Quality: It's a solid carved piece of mahogany, and it sounds great. It's HARD. I can't dent the body, no matter what I do to it. The paint job is heavy and looks great, even after the heavy abuse I put it through. It doesn't chip. The neck is maple, and absolutely impossible to screw up. I set the intonation and adjusted the neck, and it's stayed right where I put it. The Grover tuners are nice. They are quality, and don't go out of tune. Once I set my strings up and break them in, they stay tuned. The string-thru-body is cool, and since I'm a rhythm player, I don't use a trem, so it works. Review Summary: Overall, I have yet to find another guitar that just falls into my hands and plays as nice as this one. I've played PRS, Gibson and the other expensive guitars, but why spend $1000+ when you can have an incredible instrument for just over $400?? I hear everyone tell me that I should get a Les Paul, but I'll put this guitar against a Paul any day, and I guarantee my C-1 will win. Purchase: I bought this off of Musiciansfriend.com for 420. Best 420 dollars I ever spent.
Pros: Where to start?...... Ok. The body, for one. The finish is smooth, and in combonation with the shaped maple top, is a pleasure to run ones hand over. The paint job is superb, its sparkly and changes from dark to electric blue depending on how the light plays on it.
The neck I still cant get over. It is the exact right shape, exact right size, exact right action. And the diamond inlays are a welcome relief to those monotonous dots.
Electronics are excellent. The Duncan Designed open coil humbuckers I cant tell the difference from regular Ds. They can scream, they can growl, they can sing, soar, they can do anything you can play. There is a single tone knob,which I disliked at first, but i found that the second is just not nesesary. At one end, the treble just soars, really takes off. The other, it is mellow without losing volume or character.
Cons: There are 2 minor, minor construction issues which bother me from time to time, but after fixing them both I have not heard from either. One, I had a problem with the input jack coming unscrewed, but a quick unscrewing of the plate fixed that. Secondly, the bottom strap thingy actually came off during a show once. The only way I can think of remedying this is just to make sure its never loose. But dont let these throw you off.
Quality: Apart from the issues I described above, it is built well. Review Summary: BUY ME! This baby screams this. I HIGHLY recommend this guitar to ANYONE, be it a beginner to the recording artist. It is the best guitar I have set hands on that is not made by Fender or Gibson, and can even out perform them in some situations. It plays like a guitar 4 times its price. Purchase: i bought this guitar brand new at guitar center last year for $420. i was oringinaly going to buy an ibanez but my choice changed soon! Let me tell you, WHat a great deal for $420.
Pros: THE SOUND! THE SHAPE! THE NECK! IT ALL! Its got a thin and fast neck. the ducan desinged pick ups sound 95% just like seymour duncans. The body is mahogany for great sustain and brilliance. and adding to the sustain is a great string thru body bridge. I got mine in electric blue so the top of the body is flamed maple and it looks SWEET! The tone is crushing. The tunners are nice and big(Grover's) and not the little shitty ones you cant put ur fingers around like the ibanez's have. also this guitar is light weight and still is a soildbody. Basewood guitars are supposed to be lighter guitars right? Well my schecter feels like its a thousand pounds lighter then a basewood Ibanez. Its a lightweight with great sound. This guitar also sounds awesome de-tuned. i play in every tuning from A to Standard and the sound doesnt get muddy. plus this guitar sounds like its over a $1000. i played this guitar over a a ibanez that is $900 new and it the schecter totally blew the ibanez away. I suggest if u want a GREAT advanced guitar at a cheap price this is it! I suggest if u want a great guitar at an even greater price for rock or metal(even tho the guitar is pretty versitile) this is the one to go with.
Cons: i wish they didnt put the same pick up in the neck as they did for the bridge.
Quality: the top strap knob keeps coming loose but has never falllen off or anything. this guitar can take some pretty good damage b.c i beat the shit out of mine and mine looks aand sounds like its brand new still. Review Summary: An amaszinlgy great guitar! if i had enough money to have custom guitars made, Schecter would be one of the first companys i'd turn to. Purchase: I got this guitar at guitar world and i got it for 400 bucks.
Pros: The neck on this guitar is a dream. It is nice and slim so you can just burn up and down the neck with no problem. The pickups are ducan dising or what ever but they have awsome tone and sound great with distortion. The body has a hollow part in it which gives it really nice tone.
Cons: The only thing i could even think of replacing is the neck pickup it is kind of lacking.
Quality: This guitar is a rock. It has taken beatings gig after gig and holds up. The neck stays in line and it stays in tune.
Review Summary: If you are a begginer looking for a step up from your squire or a experianced player looking for a guitar that can take a licking and keep on ticking then this guitar is for you.
