Purchase: I got this guitar from a friend of mine who owns a pawn shop. Someone had sanded it down to the bare wood and varnished it with a brush. After playing it for a few minutes, I realized it was a diamond in the rough. After paying $50 (including a great original case) I took it home and took it apart and painted it a beautiful teal laquer. Until recently it was the best guitar I ever had, And I have had some big name brands.
Pros: It is a very versatile guitar. It has two open humbuckers and a coil tap. It can sound like almost anything you want. It also has the wonderful maple neck I ever wrapped my fingers around. Slightly rounded with great medium frets. A real work of art.
Cons: Nothing to report here!
Quality: Solid Strat style body (without the shaved upper corner). Very smooth tuners (always stayed in tune). Bolt on maple neck. Very sturdy construction.
Review Summary: If Ibanez would bring back this guitar, I would by 2 of them. One to play until I was too old to play anymore, and one that I would display as a work of art. There aren't many guitars that are this much fun to play for very long anymore. I didn't let it go because I wanted to. But if you are interested, I have a new love.
