History: I've been playing guitar for over 30 years, took my first lesson at age 10. I play guitar and mandolin. Currently I play in a folk/bluegrass trio, and a four-piece rock band. I listen to all kinds of music.

Purchase: A friend of mine owns this guitar. He bought it new from Guitar center for $849. He bought it after he heard my Martin HD28, and loved the sound!
Pros: I love this guitar! An all solid-wood Martin guitar for well under $1000? Wow! All mahogany, or sepele (which is similar to mahogany), nice tight chrome tuners, tusq saddle, corian nut, hardshell case. This guitar has a really nice, warm, dry tone. It plays nicely also, good action, and intonation. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone on a budget, or if you need a second guitar for jams, etc.
Cons: The satin finish is fragile, but if you're careful it shouldn't be a problem. No frills, lacks binding also.
Quality: Martin quality, great solid tone woods, well constructed. Nice fit and finish, a good value!

Review Summary: If you're looking for an all solid wood, American made guitar for under $1000, you can't go wrong with the Martin D-15!

Purchase: Recently, I had the misfortune of buying a vintage 1967 Gibson J-45 which had a cracked head. The luthier did an excellent job with the repair, but it was left with a rather flat tone and minimal resonance. Luckily, an independent music shop in Atlanta, GA was willing to take it off my hands for credit. That is when I saw the Martin D-15. With the trade-in, I payed a mere $175 plus tax.
Pros: Likes: Solid mahogony body, with satin finish, with a simple herringbone ring around the center. It plays as well as my D-28, which I recently gave to my father for his birthday. The hard case was the kicker. Very well padded, green, & fuzzy. It fit inside quite snug.
Cons: Dislikes: The SP+ stings take a minute to break in, giving the unit a brassy sound. And, all my friends want to play it.
Quality: Solid mahgony body, headstock, and solid head. Two piece back. Tortoise shell, teardrop pick guard. Herringbone rossette. Satin finish. 20 frets. Silver tuning machines. Both fingerboard & side position dots. Lightweight. Happy.

Review Summary: Kudos to Martin for finally making "poor man's" guitars (priced under $1000) once again! This sentiment was expressed by the Martin rep, who coincidentally was at the shop while I was. "Two thumbs up! Gladly would I give greater praise, would but that I possessed more thumbs." -Bill & Ted-

Purchase: I bought this unit at the guitar center in the oxford valley,Pa. area. I bought this guitar because the salesman showed me this unit and told me for the price you cant beat it. I paid $599.00 for this guitar no case.
Pros: I like the warm tones you get from this acoustic guitar. the mahogany top gives it a beautiful warm sound. I do not like bright acoustic guitars.
Cons: I had some buzzing when i first bought the guitar but that was easily fixed upon purchase.
Quality: has a mahogany top, this unit has an extremly light body and heavier neck.

Review Summary: For the price this acoustic guitar kicks butt!! If you appreciate warm tones from an acoustic guitar you will like this piece. I played higher priced taylors that didn't sound as good as this martin. back for buck, this guitar is wonderful and I would buy it again.

Purchase: Paid 800.00 used from Bill Hardin Music in Chattanooga, TN. This untit had a Martin/Fishman pickup with equalizer installed previous to my purchasing it.
Pros: Upon first glance, it was easy to notice that this guitar was constructed completely of solid Mahogany, except the fingerboard and bridge, which are ebony. The dark color, simplicity of design (since there are NO decorations at all--not even purfling or binding) pleased the eye--the warm colored wood and lack of distractions make this guitar a statement like that of the Shakers' furniture: pure, simple, functional and beautiful. Playing this guitar is a joy: a warm, deep bassy tone emits from the sound box causing an almost dreamy state. I found that this guitar is much better as a finger-picked instrument, as using a pic does not dmeonstrate the full sound capability of it. Whil it is still a very nice tone, the highs are not as bright as one might expect from a Martin guitar. However, the brightness and warmth of the tone truly comes alive when finger picked.
Cons: The satin finish is a bit thin, and since Mahogany is a fairly soft wood, it dings easily. I keep it in the case unless I am actually playing it to minimize the damage.
Quality: All Mahogany construction, no purfling or binding, solidly constructed, though.

Review Summary: I love this guitar with all my heart! If it was lost stolen or caught on fire, I would use the insurance money to replace it with the identical unit!
