Fender Review: American Standard Stratocaster

Fender Electric Guitars

History:

Purchase: I got this guitar as a gift for my 21st birthday so I don't know how much it cost, but I do know it was bought new. So you could probobly guess how much it might have cost...there's enough of these things to compare it to. Its a 1999 model.

What I Like About This Fender American Standard Stratocaster: Not much. Maybe the color is alright though. It does hold it's tune well and intonation is not bad.

What I Do NOT Like About The Fender American Standard Stratocaster: Where to start. The pickup selector is put in a horrible place (not convenient), the pickups sound wimpy and generic (I hate the fact that almost everything played sounds like a Stevie Ray Vaughn lick). The neck feels weak (like I could break it off just by pulling back on the neck while playing). There is no way this thing would last in a live gig. The volume and tone knobs are hard to reach while playing and offer very little tone difference when turned. I guess overall the guitar has no real character of its own. (I've played other Strats and I find the same thing).

Fender American Standard Stratocaster Quality Rating: Its made decently enough but so are alot of guitar in this price range.

Review Summary: The Strat is probobly one of the most over-rated guitars ever built. For the price it offers nothing special. Very one dimensional, no individuality. I can't wait to sell it. Spend your cash on something that suits your character, not on this just because of the name.

Fender Fat Strat - Overall, this is a great guitar for any level player. It has a great sound, great action, and a great feel. One last thing, I was able to get some awesome pinch harmonics(squeals) out of this thing, something that I couldn't get out of my old guitar....

Fender Frontman 15B - this is definitely a good beginner bass amp, i got this when i was 15 and i still have it~ that's a bit strange, because i'm used to playing on ampeg cabinets. overall a good deal if you need some home practice without waking up the neighbors or, for...

Fender Standard Stratocaster (Mexican) - I love this guitar. My bandmates couldn't believe this was the cheapest Fender model made after my first rehearsal with this. For gigging, I think this a no-brainer. Get one....

Fender Cyber Twin Combo - You know, I read and hear many discussions and arguments about Guitar Modelling Amps. The Fender Cyber Twin should not be included in these discussions. It is totally unique and will become a classic Fender in it's own right. I've had the opportunity...

Fender Highway 1 Telecaster - Although I realise this is a relatively cheap instrument, Fender are clearly profiteering on a classic design by cutting a lot of corners. My advice is if you're more interested in quality not name buy a Japanese version. As a guitar teacher and play...
