Zoom Review: 505 II

Zoom Guitar Effects

History:

Purchase: I bought this off of some website for $68 a couple of weeks ago. With the wall adapter and shipping and handling, it came to about $102.

What I Like About This Zoom 505 II: This unit is awsome. It looks nice, and plays great. When I got it I thought the acoustic setting would be lame, but actually sounded very nice. It has a very nice range of effects, suiting just about all types of play. After about 15 minutes of a learning curve, you can operate with ease. Customizing effects is very easy, and rather fun to do. It was affordable, even though it cost more than my amp and guitar together (I got my guitar for like $10 :-) ) The best money I've spent in a long time.

What I Do NOT Like About The Zoom 505 II: The pedals are plastic, but I can live with that. I wish there was a longer cord on the AC adapter. I can't seem to turn it off without unplugging it, but then again I'm not the brightest kid. Otherwise, perfect.

Zoom 505 II Quality Rating: Like I said, the pedals are plastic, but the rest is sturdy.

Review Summary: If you're looking for lots of effects, with out spending a lot, start shopping for one of these.

Zoom 505II Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal - If you are looking for a low price, small effects unit this is the one. A lot of people wouldn't dream of using it live but it fits my use for now in the band I'm in. It downsizes my gear and since I don't have a roadie any more that means a lot to m...

Zoom 505 II - Overall, it's a really good unit for it's price. It's good for more professional players who want flexibility with their effects. A good number of effects are available and I would highly recommend this unit to anyone....

Zoom GM-200 Amp Modeler - A great to aquire the sounds of famous amps without having to buy them. It is hard to duplicate tube amps with solid state, but it's close enough....

Zoom BFX-708 - Absolutely love the unit - wished they used 1/4 plugs that don't solder right into the board - I don't care how careful you are, eventually (after 30-50 gigs) that solder joint will be too stressed and you'll have to do what I did....

Zoom 505 - For any intermediate pedal wanting a different distortion and some effects all in one i'd recomend this pedal. Anyone in a band don't buy this pedal if you plan on some serious playing....

Zoom GM-200 - This is a good choice for someone who wants to keep it basic and straight forward. The models are some of the most realistic I've heard and it's very inexpensive....

Zoom MRS-4 - Excellent value for money and if you already own Guitar FX and a drum machine, there is no point buying the Boss BR-532 as the inclusion of these is the only thing the Boss unit has over the Zoom MRS-4. Save yourself the money....

Zoom GFX 707 - very good value for money.lots of things to play with and keep you amused.never used it live but it is great for the studio. I may buy the sister unit for my bass....
