History:
Purchase: I bought this guitar at a local guitar shop almost 3 years ago for about $300. I wanted a strat type electric guitar wich had a maple neck, 22 frets and a bit more agresive sound in the bridge position. Since it was my first electric guitar I think I made a good choice to begin with.
What I Like About This Yamaha Pacifica 112M: What I like about this guitar is the way it lookes and sounds like. It has metalic black finish on solid alder body, bolt on maple neck with 22 medium size frets, 2 single coils in neck and midle and 1 humbucker in the bridge position. I also like the fact that it has 1 volume and 1 tone control,5 postion pickup selector switch and very good tuning keys. By the way I even got two wrenches, one for neck adjustment and one for adjusting the hight of the strings.
What I Do NOT Like About The Yamaha Pacifica 112M: There isn't much I don't like about this guitar, in fact I love everithing about it.
The only thing that I dislike is the buzzing sound of the single coils in the overdrive mode, but it's really not that bad.
Yamaha Pacifica 112M Quality Rating: The finish on the body is flawless, and the neck is really comfortable to play. All the electronics still work great after nearly 3 years now. The sound of the humbucker in the bridge position is prety good for a guitar of this price range and the single coils give a good vintage sound that's great for blues or jazz. The unit stays in tune for a very long time even when I rock prety hard on it.
Review Summary: This is a great guitar to start with and also for semi-pro playing. I'm planing to change the pickups and make it a serious workhorse guitar. In conclusion I highly recomend this guitar to beginners and semi-pro guitarists.
