Guild Review: D-55

Guild Acoustic Guitars

History:

Purchase: I bought this Guild D-55 in 1971 for $500 because my friend who bought it new for $600 didn't like the sound. Of course it wans't broken in yet you clod!

What I Like About This Guild D-55: Well here it is the year 2003 and I've been playing this guitar since. Since I am a finger picker this guitar is in imaaculate condition. The action, tone, resonance and harmonics of this beautiful crafted guitar is beyond description. You have to play one to experience the wonderful sound of this machine. This guitar is like toal heaven on earth.

What I Do NOT Like About The Guild D-55: Not a thing.

Guild D-55 Quality Rating: From 1968 through 1972 this guitar was a special made order only. Because of it's popularity it was then put into mass production. I believe this was a special time to buy this guitar because they were rare at that time and I believe the makers took extra care to make such a fine instrument. I will never sell this guitar. I will take it to my grave and be jamming with Elvis in heaven with it.

Review Summary: Anyone who buys a Guild instrument will not be disatisfied. You are buying a masterpiece that will only increase in value over the years. The sound only gets better. Jamm On!

Rating of this Guild product: 5

Guild D-50 Acoustic - Over all a terrific guitar it just needs a little more breaking in. I have been told Guilds are made thicker in the body and take longer to break in. As it stands right now it sounds like a brand new Martin D28. I would recommend it to anyone. Aw...

Guild B301 - The Guild B301 is solid, unique, and has a distinctive tone. At a time when vintage basses are at a premium, it has managed to sneak under the radar. What a great deal for collectors who want to play with their pieces. It is also a graet deal for ...

Guild Pilot Fretless - Very lightweight but with the sound of my 10 pound GnL, and for less than 1/2 the sheckels ? We have a clear winner here. I like it so well that I have located its fretted sister. The pair will not be too heavey a load in my double gig bag....

Guild D55 - The best guitar for the money on the planet. It outbooms Martins, Larrivees and higher end guitar makers like Santa Cruz and Collings. The D55 is a warrior and the thick, smooth and resonant sound of this thing when it plays is wonderful. I can't s...

Guild Starfire IV - If your'e looking for an affordable vintage guitar .that will gain you instant respect everytime you whip it out the case, plus if your'e tired of the old farts toting les pauls 335'S etc Give them the fear with a starfire !...

Guild J65BL - When you go to buy an acoustic which is powerful and brilliant, suitable for high-quality unamplified or amplifiewd performance, the question is not whether to buy a Guild, but which Guild to buy. I can't reccomend this blonde beauty enough. I expect...

Guild D55 - I really love this guitar. It is gorgeous to look at, a pleasure to hold and play, and it sounds fantastic. A full well ballanced tone that is rich and bright at the same time. How do they do that? I could swear there are ghosts inside the way it su...
