Purchase: I bought this guitar (my first)at a local music shop for $160. After trying out several different brands, I settled on the Yamaha because: it was cheap, I liked the fret spacing, and it was easier to play fingerstyle than others in its price range. Pros: It's a nice compact size (I'm not a real big guy), so it sits comfortably when I play. The factory sound was okay, but imporved dramatically (especially the bass end) after I replaced the strings with something that has a brand name. The tuners hold well, even under duress (I have 2 small kids who like to "help" Daddy play), and it has proven to be relatively durable, although the dark finish on the headstock seems a bit brittle. Cons: Well, it's pretty much the cheapest Yamaha acoustic on the market, so I can't really complain too much about it. My main beef with the F310 is its rather wimpy bass. The low notes don't seem able to make it out of the sound hole really well (maybe they're stuck in all the extra glue in there....) Quality: As already stated, the F310 is a low-end guitar, so it won't hold up to comparison with more expensive instruments. It has a laminate top, and I'm not sure of the wood used in the rest of it. The finish is really dark everywhere but the top, and as mentioned above, rather brittle on the upper neck and head. The high-gloss finish is fairly thinkly applied, which makes it hard to hurt, but doesn't improve the sound quality at all. A quick look inside reveals a lot of rough edges and extra glue squished out from behind the bracing, too. Summary: All that being said, the F310 is a decent beginner's guitar. It is easy to play, and therefore easy to learn on. In my opinion, it's not a guitar to hold on too much past your novitiate, though. I bought mine 5 months ago, and I'm ready to move up to a better-quality instrument.

Purchase: I bought this guitar myself at A music store named "Sobers Music". This is my second guiar. I boght this guitar becouse my first guitar was no longer playable. I paid $199.99 for this peticular guitar. Pros: I like the sound qality of this instrument. It has a good clean sosund. I also like the way it looks. It's definately worth the price I paid for it! Cons: I found that the varnish chips easily, so you can't be too too rugh with it. Quality: The construction of this guitar is pretty good. I had this guitar for about eight months and it's starting to "ring". I'm not sure why, I think the nut could have been better quality! Summary: Overall I tink this is pretty good guitar, I would definately recommend it! It's definately worth the prie!

Purchase: Purchased as my first guitar at Mars Music in Springfield, VA as Yamaha's Gigmaker package (elec. tuner, picks, strap, etc.) for $199. Pros: As a beginner guitar, the F310 is a pretty good buy, especially for the price. It has a good, full sound, and there are some "sweet spots" on the neck where the tone is actually OK. Cons: Doesn't stay in tune worth beans and there are quite a few "dead" frets along the fret board (i.e., the tone flattens a bit compared to the rest of the frets). The fretting for barre chords is sub-par. Quality: The workmanship is what you can expect for the price: the binding is so-so; the tuners are garbage; the bracing could be better; the frets and neck are inconsisent. Summary: OK for the new student, but you'll be ready for a new guitar within a year.

Purchase: I got it at a guitar store, it was going to be my first guitar. I paid $200 for it.
Pros: I like that it stays in tune for a good amount of time and it makes chords sound relatively good.
Cons: After it gets worn for about a year it starts to buzz and sound like junk.
Quality: chips easily
Summary: I think I could have gotten a better deal
I would not buy this again I would pay a little more for a better quality guitar.
