Pacific LX Reviews2 Found On 2004-03-08, Manfredo De La\"Praira gave this Pacific Drum a 4
Purchase: I bought these from Guitar Center Feb 2004
Paid $799.00 for 5 piece LX ( shell kit}
The color is Ultra Violet Pros: The color and finish is absolutly awsome!
The sound edges are perfect no holes or pockets. The mounting system (ball socket}
is great, they stay put or atleast have so
far. The shells are ROUND to the thousandth. They have a pretty wide tuning range for thin shells, with G2's.
Cons: I had some lug and rod problems, the t nuts started to strip in two of the snare lugs and one rod broke off in the T nut
on a tom( with low tention). But a call to the factory with only one minute on hold and they hooked me up(super cust support!)
Use grease and ck for burrs!
I dont like the hoops i had some problems tuning and i knew the shells should sond better. I bought aftermarket super hoops
and O'Boy what a differance,They tuned themselves,and man what a sound!!! Quality: The construction and quality is great, as I mentioned before sound edges and roundness is perfect. There is litterly no ring or vibration(Just Sound). The shells are matched in pitch very well! Great projection! Great Bass thud. The fine thread T rods are nice for fine tuning but run a die on them and USE GREASE! The hardware is very adjustable and easy to position. Summary: With very little tweeking (Heads and Hoops)
You get a proffesional sound. For the money
paid i dont think any other set comes close.
I have played and scrutinized many sets.
Hope my dribble helps! On 2003-07-22, PorpoiseMuffins gave this Pacific Drum a 5
Purchase: I'd been playing for a couple years on various pieces of junk, and I was ready to get something decent for myself! I found the set used at Daddy's Junky music for $580. It was in very good condition, and I just couldn't resist the deal. I wasn't really considering Pacific at first, but when I tried out the set and found out it was all Maple laquered shells, I took the plunge. Plus, it came with a nice DW pedal and more hardware than I'll ever even need! I'm still not sure if this set is actually an LX or not. It doesn't say on it. It's very similar though. Pros: It has a beautiful, teal laquer finish and sounds great. It came with all the original heads, so I'll have to replace them over time. I put a Remo on the bass drum and got a hole in the resonant head, and now it sounds even better. I like the sizes (fusion). The 10 inch sounds great and the 18 inch bass drum depth is also a plus. It came with the DW logo on the resonant bass head, which I thought was cool :-) It comes with a bass pillow and maple bass drum hoops. The hardware is sturdy as anything. Cons: It scratches, but so does everything, I suppose. One of the bass drum hoops seems to be a bit bigger than it should be, but that may be normal. Not much to complain about, especially for the price I got it at. Quality: See above. Pretty good. Summary: It's great having a good looking, good sounding set of my own now. For me, it was just what I was looking for with the price I got it at. I'm not sure about buying one for full price, though. There may be better choices, I'm not sure. It's definately a good set though.
