Takamine Review: EG-541C

Takamine Classical Guitars

History:

Purchase: Acadamy of Sound Norwich UK 220 GBP Jan-2000 Why - see below!!!

What I Like About This Takamine EG-541C: Unplugged its tinny and weedy but plugged in it sounds brilliant and the TK has excellent options inc. notch for nasty feedback. It looks great (if you like black and the cutaway jumbo shape). The pre-amp is brilliant it is also easy to get at when you're playing and the controls do what they say (not all eq's do much at all in my experience)! The battery change is also a cinch. It feels nice to play (not quite a sante fe but check the price...), it stays in tune, is intonated, sounds great, The body is 400mm and only 110mm deep which is comfy to wear and ballances nice (now I've added the strap button).

What I Do NOT Like About The Takamine EG-541C: Unplugged sound, meaty neck - but I'm used to a 1970's electric shredder...

Takamine EG-541C Quality Rating: Takamine - says it all!

Review Summary: Any short comings I would accept at twice the price. List price at the time was 299 so good old AOS for the discount.

Rating of this Takamine product: 5

Takamine EAN10C - Kudos, Takamine. This guitar is easily one of the most appealing acoustic-electrics I've ever played, and if I hadn't already picked up a Martin DCX-1E, I might have bought this one instead....

Takamine GB-7C Garth Brooks Signature - Don't let the name and endorsement seduce you into getting this guitar. I've played Takamine guitars that cost half as much and deliver twice the tone. If you want to try a country-star-endorsed guitar, try Gibson's Emmylou Harris model....

Takamine S-35 Jasmine - This instrument is a very nice beginner choice and also makes a great inexpensive "knock around" axe for those of us who don't like to haul our good instruments to camp. I would rate this guitar as a great deal for the money. By the way, Music G...

Takamine EG523SC - Looks great, plays great, but everyone I tried has major string buzz past the 12th fret. And, what's worse, this lack of quality is consistent--its not just one or two bad apples. The whole barrel is bad....

Takamine EAN10CX - Great guitar! If you are looking to upgrade from a starter acoustic to one with a solid top and better quality sound, this is as good as any around for this kind of money. I've played Gibson's and Taylor's that haven't felt as nice to play as this. W...

Takamine G Series - Hmmm... bottom line is, it's an absolutely amazing guitar. i love the way it feels, plays, and looks. if you are just starting out, or are collecting, it's the perfect one for you! ...
