Purchase: I got this guitar with a dean markley 8 watt amp for 120 bucks from a friend. i don't know how old it is. It is my first guitar, and i was too poor to get anything else, and i wanted something with a humbucker and 2 single coils, just to see what i would like. It was a great deal, and i still consider the guitar awesome, even though i consider myself an intermediate, self taught.
Pros: the humbucker is awesome. I play anything from celtic, to Klezmar(believe it or not), to green day, to harder stuff. The humbucker with heavy gain on the high E string, can sound like bagpipes to a violin, interstingly enough. On the other hand, the humbucker is awesome with distortion. on clean, it has a very hard bright sound, which is a little too sharp. The single coils are good for the clean sound, and they sound very jangly on chords. Very versitile. The neck is very fast and slim. I played a very expensive PRS Tremonti at a friend's house and the neck was like a baseball bat. I prefer my guitar to his.
Cons: I do not like the single coils with distortion. they are very muddy. The strap also comes off a lot because the guitar strap pins are in bad condition (see below.) The humbucker is a little too sharp on clean.
Quality: The guitar is built very well. the only thing i don't like is the screw that holds in the strap on the bottom has come out, and i have to glue it in. The strap comes off a lot of the guitar. Fortunately, i always can grab it before it hits the floor.

Summary: It is a great first guitar! i have playered it for 9 months, and i still consider it a great guitar to play. I will upgrade when i can to a marshall 15 watt amp, as my amp is very poor, but i will continue to play my ibanez until i get enough money to get a epi les paul.

Purchase: I got my Ibanez as a gift from my folks...don't know how much it was...probably cheap because we're on a tight budget.
Pros: Just about everything. The strings are nice and low on the fretboard so I can "really light it up", if you will. Sounds nice and you get a good tone out of it.
Cons: The nut that goes around the output jack on the guitar itself was coming loose. I tightened it and nothing happened again.
Quality: Solid. Built solid.

Summary: This was my first and only guitar, but it wasn't my first expierience with a guitar. I had tried out my friend's Fender, Gibson, Alvarez, and many others, (his dad is a guitar junkie and has LOTS of guitars) and my parents asked him about what would be a good quality axe for the price. He immediately said Ibanez. The first time I picked it up, I fell in love with it. My next guitar, which I will be purchasing soon, will be the Ibanez Artcore AG75...that too is amazing.

Purchase: i got this from interstatemusic.com in a starter pack with a6" 10W amp. it was a 15th b day present.
Pros: its light, cheap, great starter, humbucking pickup, and standard bridge. the bridge is nice for palm muting.
Cons: well since its a starter, dont expect much. the first year it played real nice, but over time the neck warps and buzzes pretty bad. but thats expected.
Quality: its a cheap guitar so you gonna get cheap wood and a simple neck. over time it gets poor. the finish is durable though. ive hit it a lot and the finish hasnt cracked or anything.

Summary: perfect starter guitar. if you replace the humbucker with a seymour ducan super distortion, like i did, this thing will shred!

Purchase: I bought this guitar an Van Gelders Music Center for about $170. I bought this because everyone was telling me it was a starter guitar and thats what i need, plus it was cheap.
Pros: What I like about this guitar is it is good for beginers who are into heavy metal, because that is what I is used for basicly.
Cons: What I didnt like abou it is that it the pickups get shitty after a while and tend to buzz a lot. Also I started to get into different music so a heavy metal guitar wasnt exactly for me.
Quality: The quality is is not that bad if you use it right. I had a couple problems with the volume knobs and paint but thats really it.

Summary: In all this guitar is really for beginers. i wouldnt recomend it to people who have bein playing for more than 2 years at the most.

Purchase: I am in Brisbane, Australia. I bought this guitar out of the trading post because i am only beginning to play. 400AU dollars with practise amp.
Pros: What i like about this guitar are most things. Even on my tiny little practise amp, it sounds terrific. Crank her up when the parents arent home. Good fun. Because i am onyl beginning, the miminal knobs make it a lot simpler. I dont think the more knobs means the better the guitar is. It is simple and to the point. By that, i dont mean that the guitar sounds bad. The sound is great, with perfect distortion. I play to heavy songs now, and it sounds just just like them, yet on about the cheapest guitar out there.
Cons: The pickups look a little un-chunky i think, but the sound is great.
Quality: Good construction. Maybe the pickups could look a bit cooler. I have the dark blue model and its got glittery stuff in it, so that is cool too. No complaints here, shes all holding together.

Summary: For a cheap guitar, you cant go wrong with this one. Ibanez has definately proved itself to me. Great sound (trust me, ull sound like a pro in next to no time) and solidity. Simple to use, no crap. Just whip her in an amp, and bang, instant coolness (for very cheap), and that my friends, is the bottom line. Fun playing...

Purchase: I recieved this guitar for Christmas a few years back. I believe it cost around $250 in a Ibanez starter pack and $169 alone on musicians friend.
Pros: This guitar has held up a good two years of constant dropping and other abuse. The sound is what you would isn't the best in the world, but was more than what I expected from this low-end guitar. The factory neck pickup has a real nice tone, and the bridge humbucker has a nice little crunch to it.
Cons: I have had several small problems with this guitar from the begining. First, all the factory strings broke within weeks. The high E turner is abnormally loose. The hexnut on the output jack comes loose all the time and actually cause no sound to be produced.
Quality: If you flip this guitar over and take a look at the bolt-on neck plate, you will see "Made In China." That basically sums up the quality of this guitar, but you get what you pay for, and for the price, it isn't that bad of a deal.

Summary: Overall, this is a low-end beginner's guitar, but well worth the $169 you would pay for this guitar alone. I plan on playing my guitar until it falls to completely apart.

Purchase: I bought this at a cool music store called Bill Hardin music for around 200 bucks. I love music and only had an acoustic guitar so I needed something to rock on.
Pros: This is great because it is an Ibanez and great quality for cheap and the sound plays the hound out of a Fender Standard Strat and is about half the cost.
Cons: Its all cool.
Quality: Very durable and great quality thats one of the great things about Ibanez.

Summary: This guitar kicks butt great sound, quality and looks. Great Price, not just for beginner great for any rocker.

Purchase: I got this guitar at a local store called World Of Music. I am just starting so I got it with a package. I listen to punk rock all the time and I love it. So I just had to get a guitar of my own so I could make my own music. I am very happy with this guitar. I paid 280 for it, including the amp and stuff that came with the package.
Pros: I like this guitar because for one, its made my Ibanez. I like the way it feels. It feels very solid and like it isnt going to fall apart in your hands.
Cons: I wish it had more colors. Mine is red and white but I kind of wish I could have gotten a solid color.
Quality: Great quality. Its made by Ibanez and we all know they put quality into their guitars.

Summary: This is a great guitar for a beginner like me or even someone who is a bit experienced. Get this guitar, you wont be dissapointed.

Purchase: I acquired this guitar at tarpley's in lubbock, tx. I paid $260 for it.
Pros: I love this guitar, it plays awsome, great fretboard with plenty of space for fast action. The desighn is good looking, nothing else I could ask for in a guitar like this one.
Cons: The only thing i don't like about this guitar is my brother on it. He just won't give up, I'm telling you, he is relentless.
Quality: Construction is perfect!!! Solid and no loose, bolts, screws or nuts.

Summary: Overall the grx40 is awsome, I keep getting told that i paid to much for it, but I KNOW this guitar is worth it!!!

Purchase: http://www.chrisbsmusic.com $189.99 needed a new guitar
Pros: The Ibanez GRX40 is impressive. For the money, it is a solidly built, good looking, sounding guitar. I like the feel it has, the neck is fast. I also like the fact that Ibanez actually makes it, instead of outsourcing the construction to another company, like some beginner guitar models are. Also, it played good right out of the box, so to speak No additional setup was needed
Cons: I wish it came in more colors.
Quality: The construction is good, I know people who own them 3-4 yrs old without ever having a problem.

Summary: For under $200, one of the best guitars out there/

Purchase: : I got my 1999 Ibanez GIP GRX-40 at Cambells music store in york. It is a cheap guitar so i olny paid 120 for it.
Pros: It may not be the best guitar but you can get a cool heavy metal sound out of it.
Cons: Like i said it is a cheaper unit and isnt good for anything butheavy metal.
Quality: it is olny a year old but has one or to chips in the paint. and some of the screws on it keep comming lose on it.

Summary: the guitar i have now isnt that great. some of my classmats that have nice guitars even make fun of me. I went to a store to buy a kramer but at that time couldent aford it. I would really love this giutar and it would be nice to play something besides metal and have it sound nice.
