Samick Review: Greg Bennett Signature Series Fairlane FN1 Bass

Samick Bass Guitars

History:

Purchase: I was looking for a new Bass guitar. I purchased the FN1 Fairlane from Pro-Audio in Canberra ACt Australia. I bought this bass becaues of its appearance and easy playable features.... I paid $239 AUS for it - Usuall retail is $299...(I got an exceptional deal from Paco)...

What I Like About This Samick Greg Bennett Signature Series Fairlane FN1 Bass: It has the Jass bass style of the fender but with a 2 a side tuners which I prefer, makes it look neater - I like the fit and finish of this bass - very well made for the price.

What I Do NOT Like About The Samick Greg Bennett Signature Series Fairlane FN1 Bass: I didn't like the standard potentiometers as they didn't have the depth of tone and caused a bit of a hum from the amp... I fitted 250k pots and stopped the hum....

Samick Greg Bennett Signature Series Fairlane FN1 Bass Quality Rating: I can't fault this bass as far as the fit and finish goes - everything appears as it has been well manufactured and assembled. All fittings are of good quality and function. I may get around to fitting some other pickups later on - but at prestent it's fine...

Review Summary: Very happy with this my second bass I have owned and have NO intention on spending big bucks on anything else - I would rather spend it on new Seymour Duncan pickups and in trying different strings for it.... and get myself a much larger amplifier setup. I am using a Marshall B65 BassState Amp at the moment.
