Fender Review: Telecaster (Mexican)

Fender Electric Guitars

History:

Purchase: I went to a local store to BUY the new 52 re-issue tele. I've owned a few "Vintage" Strats and Telecasters, and I know how they sound and feel. Beter still, I know how they're NOT supposed to feel! Well, I played the 52 for a bit, and while waiting for the salesman to take it and put it back in a secure spot I set it into a stand that had previously been occupied by a $230 USED Mexican Tele. Hey, who could resist a head to head, side by side comparison??? Not me! I gotta tell you, shock is a mild expression for my impression of that little sunburst beauty. The feel was excellent, and the sound was just what I expected a tele to sound like... I bought it. The salesman wasn't the least bit surprised...

What I Like About This Fender Telecaster (Mexican): Fit, finish, feel and sound... all excellent.

What I Do NOT Like About The Fender Telecaster (Mexican): Not a durn thing... Well, I'll be a bit ashamed at what I paid for it... $200 plus tax.

Fender Telecaster (Mexican) Quality Rating: Outstanding, as good as any Fender I've owned, and better than some.

Review Summary: Don't hesitate a second to buy one if you're on a budget. Even if you're NOT on a budget, they make sense... that is unless you have a problem with NAFTA :-) Rates a 5!

Fender Squier "Fat-Strat" - My final thoughts on this guitar are overwhelmingly positive, it feels "classic" but costs peanuts, plays great, looks the part, and I am more than happy. I can't see me changing from my two Squiers (I have a Telecaster too) for some time now....

Fender Cyber Deluxe - Great first nice amp for any level of player. Lots of effects to keep you interested and lets your music grow....

Fender Japanese MB4 Bass - I'm rating it at "4", but that is WITH an upgrade to a cast bridge and with a silver dollar screwed to the back of the peghead. These additions have given it a good mellow tone, with some shimmer and a good bottom. The body is a 7/8 scale P-ba...

Fender Mexican 60's Reissue Strat - Great guitar, great price. Avoid if you like a metal sound a feedback on single coils is a killer....

Fender Stratocaster Standard Electric Guitar - This is a must have guitar....

Fender Fat Strat Texas Special - I would recommend this guitar to anyone who's starting to branch out into other types of music. I grew up on the heavy metal hair bands of the 80's so I still like to wail once in a while with high gain and scooped out mids. Now, I'm starting to enjo...

Fender New American Standard Precision S-1 Bass - A very good bass, comes through any band sound better than many active basses. Great for rock!! and retro 60-...! Played active axes only before but this bass got me into Fender-mania! For a cover band that I just joined in, I will buy a Fender Jazz ...

Fender Fat Strat - Mexican - Overall, I love my guitar! I have no complaints. I wouldn't trade it even for a gibson! My fat strat has a great tone all over the fretboard but I especially love the higher range and the lower notes. I've also got a distortion pedal and it makes...
