Yamaha Review: RBX 270

Yamaha Bass Guitars

History:

Purchase: I purchased the instrument from the Authorized Agent for Yamaha Musical Instruments. I purchased it for US$260 which may appear high, but taking into account the Local levies, air freight and margins which are applicable in the Middle east region it seems reasonable. What got thrown in was a carry case (Soft) and a Bass Tuner (Yamaha)

What I Like About This Yamaha RBX 270: What immediately impressed me about the Bass was the workmanship and finish which is excellent at this price point. The tuning pegs allow for very precise tuning and also required no innotation adjustments. The combination of a split and single pickup give you great flexibility in the type of tone you wish to generate. The slim neck is the biggest attraction to me as I do not exactly have very long fingers and find it extermely easy to run the fretboard.

What I Do NOT Like About The Yamaha RBX 270: The lack of colors!!! The only color available was Purple.

Yamaha RBX 270 Quality Rating: The construction of the instrument is extremely good. No effort has been spared in giving it a look and feel of an instrument priced considerably higher. The enclosed tuning pegs give firm response. The electrics and wiring have a good job done (Very precise soldering and no dry spots). No Buzz or irritating glitches usaully associated with lower priced instuments, At this price point the quality is certainly above par.

Review Summary: A fine instrument at this price point. I would recommend it for any serious Bass player whether Amatuer or Pro. Yamaha has certainly got a winner on its hands with this Axe.
